Salary: $78,320–$97,900 for Laboratory Manager I; $95,920–$1,199,000 for Laboratory Manager II, annual salary.

What you will do

• Manage daily laboratory operations, essential equipment, supplies, budgets, and experimental support.
• Coordinate with HHMI and host institution offices on purchasing, accounts, budgets, and fixed-asset inventories.
• Work with safety and regulatory offices to maintain compliance with applicable requirements.
• Develop laboratory guidelines, procedure manuals, and evaluations of new materials, equipment, techniques, and technologies.
• Train incoming personnel in laboratory conduct and technical procedures.
• Provide working supervision to research technicians and other junior laboratory personnel, and potentially conduct research projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in health or physical sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Three or more years of laboratory experience, including at least one year of supervisory experience.
• Operational knowledge of advanced laboratory equipment and the ability to supervise others.
• Ability to develop instructional materials, analyze processes, and create systems to achieve laboratory goals.
• Ability to communicate appropriately, understand organizational structures, and work with internal and external administrative groups.
• Ability to work in a laboratory environment involving possible exposure to vapors, low-dose radiation, toxic chemicals, acids, and carcinogenic substances.
