What you will do

  • Lead end-to-end biorepository operations, including specimen receipt, accessioning, labeling, storage, retrieval, transport, and chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Maintain inventory integrity by reconciling physical specimens with electronic records and implementing data-quality checks and corrective actions.
  • Configure and administer OpenSpecimen study workflows, labels, user access, reporting, and study start-up or amendment activities.
  • Manage iLabs billing workflows, quotes, purchase orders, monthly charge reconciliation, and coordination of journal entries with Research Administration.
  • Oversee freezers and laboratory equipment, including maintenance, calibration, temperature monitoring, alarm response, and contingency coverage.
  • Develop SOPs, support audits, train staff, and lead hiring, scheduling, performance coaching, and workforce planning for biorepository teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, laboratory science, clinical research, health sciences, healthcare administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a healthcare laboratory, biorepository, or clinical research environment involving regulated specimen handling, storage, and tracking.
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance coaching.
  • Knowledge of human specimen and cold-chain safety practices, including PPE, dry ice, and liquid nitrogen.
  • Experience with inventory systems such as OpenSpecimen, research billing platforms such as iLabs, audit-ready documentation, SOPs, and quality systems.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite in Boston and work with liquid nitrogen and dry ice.
