Software Test Engineer (QA Automation)

Location: Full-time onsite work in Tacoma, Washington, United States is essential. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance are required.

Salary: $60,000–$77,500 per year, depending on education and experience.

What you will do

• Perform manual testing for a data-heavy enterprise web application with complex workflows.
• Create and execute test plans and track software defects throughout the development workflow.
• Replicate and document field-reported bugs and generate sample datasets for data ingestion and parsing tools.
• Write automated tests and use AI-assisted coding tools to develop test plans, edge cases, and test automation while maintaining engineering judgment.
• Review feature documentation with the requirements team and suggest improvements to the end-user experience.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum processes and support sprint release schedules.

Requirements

• 1–4 years of experience in software testing or software development, ideally with web applications.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle and testing methodologies.
• Experience with requirements, bug, or Agile tracking systems such as Azure DevOps or JIRA.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work independently with multiple stakeholders.
• Basic programming or scripting experience, or experience writing automated tests.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a relevant concentration; three additional years of directly relevant software development experience may substitute for the degree.
• Experience with Playwright, Selenium, Postman, or another modern test automation or API testing tool.
• Accessibility testing experience, including Section 508 or WCAG 2.0.
• Technical writing skills and experience working with complex data.
• Openness to adopting new tools and AI-assisted coding workflows.
