Operations Accounting Supervisor (Oil and Gas)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop the operations accounting team through accountability, delegation, cross-training, and process clarity.
• Review and post capital expenditure and lease operating expense accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, flux analyses, and activity analyses.
• Oversee monthly Capex and LOE variance analysis, forecasts, and reporting for operations and accounting leadership.
• Provide accounting guidance to Operations teams and serve as the subject matter expert for AFEs.
• Partner with Operations, IT, accounting teams, and other stakeholders on complex issues and projects.
• Implement process improvements, standardization, and automation to improve efficiency and reduce key-person risk.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, such as a BBA or BS.
• At least five years of accounting experience in an upstream oil and gas company.
• At least three years of progressive accounting or tax leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of oil and gas accounting, general accounting principles, internal controls, and accounting practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, time management, and project management skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and communicate complex accounting concepts effectively.

Nice to have

• SAP or other large ERP experience.
• Automation experience with tools such as Spotfire, SQL, or Snowflake.
• CPA certification.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
