TL;DR
Human Resources Generalists (Workday/Payroll): Providing comprehensive HR and payroll support for university departments with an accent on personnel transactions, compliance, leave administration, and employee services. Focus on processing complex Workday actions, interpreting university, state, and federal requirements, and supporting policy development, training, mentoring, and performance management.

Location: On-site at the main campus in College Station, Texas

What you will do

  • Provide professional Human Resources and payroll support to university departments, employees, managers, and departmental representatives.
  • Create, post, and process personnel actions in Workday and related systems.
  • Maintain personnel records, process payroll, and prepare HR documents for review and approval.
  • Support leave and absence administration, position and classification actions, performance management, and TrainTraq usage.
  • Interpret university, state, and federal HR requirements and provide status updates and customer support.
  • At higher levels, serve as a subject matter expert, mentor colleagues, provide training, and contribute to policy and process development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HR Generalist experience by level: none for Level I, one year for Level II, three years for Level III, and five years for Level IV.
  • Knowledge of HR concepts, principles, practices, and applicable university, state, and federal requirements.
  • Knowledge of the Family and Medical Leave Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work on-site in College Station, Texas, and cover evening, weekend, holiday, or emergency shifts when required.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Experience with Workday or similar Human Capital Management systems.
  • Broader HR experience suitable for policy guidance, training, mentoring, and team leadership.
