Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States; regular onsite work is required and the position is not eligible for remote work.

Salary: $140,000–$170,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain secure enterprise software, APIs, microservices, and distributed services.
• Design cloud-native architectures and modernize legacy systems through containers, CI/CD, automation, and DevSecOps practices.
• Build and integrate generative AI, LLM, RAG, and agentic workflow capabilities into production systems.
• Develop forecasting, modeling, analytics, and decision-support tools for mission readiness, logistics, sustainment, and supply chain operations.
• Translate operational requirements into production-ready software while collaborating with analysts, mission experts, engineers, and government stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational sustainment for production systems.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret Security Clearance are required.
• Master’s or doctoral degree with 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years supporting the Department of Defense; or a bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years supporting DoD; or 15 years of directly related experience, including at least 8 years supporting DoD.
• Significant professional software engineering, application development, systems engineering, or automation experience.
• Recent production development experience with Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with enterprise applications, APIs, distributed systems, microservices, software architecture, object-oriented design, Agile development, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, technical writing, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting F-35, Air Force, Navy, Joint Program Office, or other major DoD acquisition programs.
• Experience with generative AI, LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, agentic AI frameworks, or intelligent automation.
• Experience developing analytics, forecasting, optimization, or decision-support mission applications.
• Active Top Secret clearance.
