Location: Knoxville, Tennessee, United States; fully onsite. Candidates must live in the Knoxville area or be in the process of relocating.

What you will do
- Obtain prior authorizations for chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other ordered medications and infusion treatments.
- Communicate with insurance payors to address authorization barriers and prevent delays to patient treatment plans.
- Serve as a point of contact for clinic teams, answering questions and supporting additional authorization needs.
- Provide physicians, management, and clinical staff with prompt feedback about restrictions, special requirements, and payor issues.
- Research alternative authorization solutions and identify trends involving specific treatments and payors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s degree in healthcare or a business-related field is advantageous.
- At least one year of direct experience in pre-certification, benefits verification, financial counseling, referral services, medical assisting, or a similar role; two years of medical insurance verification and authorization experience are required under the minimum qualifications.
- Knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or infusion treatment authorization requirements across different payors.
- Proficiency with electronic health records, payor portals, and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Prior medical assistant or LPN experience is advantageous; an LPN license and registration are preferred.
- Ability to work fully onsite in Knoxville and perform prolonged sitting, computer and telephone work, and occasional lifting and reaching.
Nice to have
- Associate’s degree in a business-related or healthcare field.
- Medical assistant or LPN experience.
- Billing and coding experience.
