Drug Authorization Specialist (Oncology)

Location: United States; full-time role with travel to satellite clinics when necessary.

What you will do

• Obtain and maintain pre-authorizations for physician-ordered drugs and ensure treatment dates remain covered.
• Coordinate reimbursement, pre-certification, off-label drug use, and authorization requirements with physicians and clinical staff.
• Document authorization updates and follow-up actions in electronic medical records and patient management systems.
• Coordinate patient assistance, indigent drug programs, and treatment-plan requirements with patient advocates and clinical staff.
• Explain insurance coverage, deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and estimated out-of-pocket costs to patients.
• Provide financial counseling and resolve drug authorization issues in task management systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background in medical insurance.
• Knowledge of clinic office procedures, medical practice, and medical terminology.
• Strong written and verbal communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, databases, patient scheduling tools, and other medical information systems.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and travel to satellite clinics when necessary.
