Senior Applications Chemist (GC/MS)

Location: Folsom, California, USA; onsite laboratory role

Salary: $75,000–$95,000 per year

What you will do

• Act as the primary technical authority for GC and GC/MS instrumentation and applications.
• Lead investigations into complex analytical issues affecting data quality and turnaround time.
• Support method development, modification, and validation in response to client needs and regulatory changes.
• Establish best practices for instrument maintenance, system cleanliness, and performance monitoring.
• Partner with QA, operations, leadership, and clients on technical problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate new instrumentation and technologies while providing advanced training and mentorship to laboratory teams.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Chemistry or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience with GC/MS platforms, including GC/MS/MS.
• Demonstrated leadership in method development and technical problem-solving.
• Experience mentoring teams and influencing across functions.
• Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
• Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.

Nice to have

• Experience with air-phase analysis.
• Experience with EPA Toxic Organic Compendium methods.
