Senior Manager, Data Science (Supply Chain Optimization)

Location: Bentonville, Arkansas, United States; onsite at the Walmart Home Office

Annual salary: $110,000–$220,000, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

Walmart operates a large-scale retail and fulfillment network, with the Supply Chain Strategy team focused on data-driven network planning and optimization.

What you will do

• Lead the development, assessment, and validation of scalable data science models.
• Build analytical models for network design, capacity planning, cost-to-serve, inventory, transportation, and multi-node fulfillment.
• Design data visualizations that communicate complex insights to business stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into actionable data science projects and decision-ready recommendations.
• Mentor associates on modeling, feature engineering, and data analysis methodologies.
• Oversee model deployment, monitoring, continuous improvement, data strategy, and data quality.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in data science, operations research, optimization, or advanced analytics for complex business problems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib.
• Hands-on experience with linear or integer programming, simulation, network optimization, scenario analysis, and sensitivity testing.
• Ability to structure ambiguous business questions into analytical models and actionable recommendations.
• Experience with model validation, trade-offs, ROI, and financial impact.
• Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of analytics experience, master’s degree plus 3 years, or 7 years of experience in analytics or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience in network design, capacity planning, cost-to-serve, transportation, inventory, or fulfillment optimization.
• Machine learning, optimization modeling, or operations research background, including a relevant PhD.
• Experience with Python, Spark, Scala, R, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or Torch.
• Supervisory experience and knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA and digital accessibility practices.
