Senior Manager, Data Science - Walmart Business Multi-Node Fulfillment Strategy & Network Optimization

Location: Bentonville, Arkansas, United States; onsite at the Walmart Home Office

Salary: $110,000–$220,000 annual salary, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation

What you will do

• Lead the development, assessment, validation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement of scalable data science models.
• Develop analytical models for network design, capacity planning, cost-to-serve, inventory, transportation, and fulfillment across FCs, RDCs, HVDCs, PDCs, IDCs, Stores, and other fulfillment assets.
• Design data visualization solutions using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib to communicate complex insights to business stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements and ambiguous supply chain questions into actionable data science projects and decision-ready recommendations.
• Partner with Operations, Finance, Technology, and other cross-functional stakeholders to support network, operational, and investment decisions.
• Mentor associates on modeling techniques, feature engineering, and data analysis methodologies, and communicate findings to senior leadership.

Requirements

• One of the following minimum qualification paths: a bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field plus 5 years of experience in an analytics-related field; a master's degree in one of these fields plus 3 years of experience; or 7 years of experience in an analytics or related field.
• Extensive experience in data science, operations research, optimization, and advanced analytics for complex business problems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with linear and integer programming, simulation, network optimization, scenario analysis, and sensitivity testing.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured models and decision-ready recommendations.
• Strong understanding of model validation, tradeoffs, ROI, and financial impact.
• Proven leadership skills to mentor associates, influence stakeholders, and communicate effectively with senior leadership.

Nice to have

• Experience in network design, capacity planning, cost-to-serve, transportation, inventory, or fulfillment optimization.
• Data science, machine learning, and optimization modeling experience.
• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Econometrics.
• Successful completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.
• Supervisory experience.
• Experience with open-source frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or Torch.
• Knowledge of inclusive digital experiences, WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
