Lead Data Scientist (Operations Research)

Base salary: $119,600.00–$164,450.00 per year

What you will do

• Lead data science modeling for operations use cases from problem framing through production deployment and adoption.
• Build optimization models for inventory policy, multi-echelon safety stock, item segmentation, capacity and production planning, and lab/test scheduling.
• Develop demand forecasting, signal-reliability, should-cost, and spend analytics models for Supply Chain and Procurement.
• Design empirical tests for vendor and planning-platform models and establish performance thresholds.
• Set standards for modeling, validation, backtesting, retraining, and monitoring with the AI Platform/MLOps team.
• Work with planners, buyers, business leaders, vendors, data scientists, and AI engineers to drive adoption and provide technical direction.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building and deploying optimization, machine learning, and statistical models for operational problems.
• Deep expertise in linear and mixed-integer programming, constrained optimization, inventory theory, scheduling, and simulation.
• Hands-on experience with optimization solvers and frameworks such as Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools, or Pyomo.
• Strong time-series forecasting skills, including hierarchical and probabilistic methods and rigorous backtesting.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience working with ERP, EDI, and manufacturing data.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience is required; a master’s or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field is preferred.
