Machine Learning Engineer (TikTok Risk & Integrity - USDS)

Location: San Jose R&D; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $136,800–$359,720 annually

What you will do

• Design algorithmic architecture and governance for account integrity, incentive abuse, content safety, and financial risk.
• Build high-precision risk representation models using video, livestream, audio, behavioral sequence, and social graph data.
• Research and counter large-scale automated attacks, harmful AIGC, data drift, and rapidly changing adversarial tactics.
• Develop self-evolving defense systems and core machine learning infrastructure for large-scale risk intelligence.
• Integrate generative AI, LLMs, and multimodal technologies into risk detection, adjudication, interpretability, and enforcement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Strong machine learning foundation with experience applying Transformer and GNN architectures.
• Strong engineering and coding skills in at least one of Python, C++, or Go.
• Familiarity with distributed computing such as Spark or Flink and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Experience designing model evaluation systems that balance technical performance with product goals.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a global, cross-cultural environment.

Nice to have

• Experience building LLM-based agents with task planning, tool use, or autonomous decision-making.
• Experience with LLM post-training or fine-tuning, including SFT, RLVR, or RLHF.
• Expertise in video understanding or multimodal representation using visual, audio, and textual features.
• Experience in integrity, anti-abuse, safety, or trustworthy AI at a large-scale internet platform.
