Embedded Software Test Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and cases for DO-178C qualification.
• Perform unit, integration, hardware-in-the-loop, and system-level testing of embedded software.
• Debug issues, investigate problems, report defects, and collaborate with software and hardware engineers.
• Review requirements, architecture, and code for testability and completeness.
• Interpret hardware datasheets, microcontroller documentation, and interface specifications to create realistic test scenarios.
• Prepare test reports, evidence packages, certification documentation, and contribute to improving test processes and tools.

Requirements

• Experience with software verification and validation in an aerospace or safety-critical environment.
• Hands-on experience applying DO-178B/C practices, ideally at Level A.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontroller-based software, and low-level communication protocols.
• Ability to assess C source code for testability and interpret hardware and interface documentation.
• Must hold a British passport or have the right to work in the UK.
• Full-time employment in Leicester.

Nice to have

• Structural coverage experience, including MC/DC, ideally with Parasoft or with LDRA, VectorCAST, or Cantata.
• Experience with DOORS, GitHub, HIL/PIL test setups, or tool qualification under DO-330.
