Reinsurance Contracts Counsel (Life & Health Reinsurance)

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; hybrid work model required

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate standard and complex Life & Health reinsurance contracts across assigned Asian markets.
• Assess contractual risks, deviations, trade-offs, and commercial alignment, providing clear recommendations for informed decisions.
• Apply hirify.global standard wordings, guidelines, and risk disciplines while documenting deviations and their rationale.
• Manage legacy and emerging contract risks through targeted reviews, assessments, and strategic projects.
• Use hirify.global applications and GenAI tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT in contracting workflows.
• Lead cross-functional negotiations, collaborate across regions and time zones, mentor junior counsel, and contribute to regional and global Contracts initiatives.

Requirements

• 6–10 years of experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts, preferably in financial services or reinsurance.
• Strong understanding of contract law and its practical application in commercial and risk-management contexts.
• Leadership experience in project delivery, cross-functional initiatives, stakeholder coordination, and influencing outcomes in a matrix organization.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate evidence-based recommendations that balance commercial objectives and risk management.
• Experience coaching and developing colleagues, with the ability to work across Asian markets and regional legal and regulatory environments.
• Excellent written and spoken English and flexibility to collaborate across Asia time zones are required.

• Additional language skills beyond English, particularly Asian languages.
• Familiarity with GenAI tools and digital contracting workflows.
