Senior AI Engineer (Agentic AI)

Location: On-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Relocation assistance is provided. U.S.-based candidates must reside in one of the approved U.S. states; internationally based candidates may reside only in the United Kingdom.

Salary: $150.2K–$250.4K annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Extend and maintain the V&V SDK and evaluation framework for simulation-backed validation of agentic AI systems.
• Design agent-level and end-to-end evaluations, benchmark scenarios, scoring logic, and experiment harnesses.
• Build tooling and metrics to assess planning, reasoning, operational performance, failure modes, regressions, and comparative benchmarks.
• Translate astrodynamics and mission-domain concepts into executable evaluation scenarios and simulation configurations.
• Develop reusable SDK interfaces, adapters, and utilities connecting V&V systems, TALOS benchmarks, and agent workflows.
• Partner with AI researchers, domain experts, and cross-functional teams while maintaining testing, documentation, reproducibility, and system design standards.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering, machine learning engineering, applied AI, or equivalent work.
• Strong Python engineering skills, including experience building SDKs, libraries, or evaluation tooling.
• Experience designing evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, metrics, or test harnesses for AI/ML systems.
• Ability to analyze system behavior, identify failure modes, and assess complex autonomous or semi-autonomous systems.
• Familiarity with agent frameworks, orchestration patterns, or protocol-based integrations, plus cross-functional communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and hold an active Top Secret / SCI clearance. A relevant science or engineering bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous systems, agentic AI, reinforcement learning, or simulation-based evaluation.
• Knowledge of benchmark design, experiment tracking, trace-based evaluation, or observability tools such as MLflow or Opik.
• Experience with LangGraph or similar orchestration frameworks.
• Knowledge of astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, spacecraft mission planning, physics-based simulation, or trajectory analysis.
• Experience transitioning advanced research systems into production environments.
