TL;DR
Upgrade Install and Relocation Engineer (Semiconductor Equipment): Installing, upgrading, relocating, and qualifying advanced lithography systems at customer sites with an accent on electromechanical troubleshooting, cleanroom operations, and safety-critical execution. Focus on diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues, verifying equipment performance, and supporting high-travel customer deployments across the United States.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; on-site presence required. The role requires approximately 80% travel, primarily within the United States, with occasional international travel, and may include day, night, rotating, on-call, weekend, and extended-hour schedules.

Salary: $30–$41 per hour.

What you will do

  • Install, relocate, de-install, assemble, qualify, upgrade, and optimize lithography systems and subsystems in cleanroom environments.
  • Execute system modifications, recovery activities, and upgrades according to technical procedures and specifications.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, and system-level issues.
  • Collaborate with customers, engineers, and technical experts to address technical challenges and deliver installations safely and on schedule.
  • Analyze system performance and verify compliance with engineering, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Complete service reports, work orders, technical documentation, and project handovers, while supporting continuous improvement and mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, physics, electronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience and relevant technical training.
  • At least one year of experience in field service, semiconductor manufacturing, equipment installation, high-technology manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or a similar technical environment.
  • At least one year of experience assembling, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience using data analysis tools, spreadsheet software, technical reporting applications, and interpreting engineering documentation and drawings.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and legally authorized to access controlled technology under U.S. export regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license required. Ability to work in cleanrooms for extended periods while wearing required PPE and to perform physical activities including lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, vacuum systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, precision alignment, or related technologies.
