Director, Stem Cell Research

Location: Boston, MA, United States; on-site five days per week

Salary: $197,400–$296,200 base salary annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Lead stem cell research within the Type 1 diabetes program, including molecular characterization of stem cell-derived islet manufacturing.
• Direct discovery of novel biomarkers and development of associated assays.
• Align scientific direction and team efforts with T1D program goals across early research and development.
• Coordinate collaborative research across multidisciplinary groups and advance high-quality data packages to downstream collaborators.
• Lead, motivate, teach, and mentor biologists while supporting scientific, ethical, communication, and conflict-resolution development.
• Construct draft budgets and manage execution of approved budgets.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline with 9+ years of relevant post-doctoral experience; or a master’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Advanced knowledge of biology and scientific disciplines relevant to drug development, target identification, validation, and mechanistic investigation.
• Experience with cell therapy development, cell manufacturing, biomarker assays, and advancing research from preclinical work toward clinical or commercial manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate distinct functional groups across multiple projects and operate effectively in a matrix environment.
• Strong scientific communication, interpersonal, teamwork, organizational, project-management, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Boston five days per week, with ad hoc flexibility.
