Junior Health Insurance Underwriter

Location: Clearwater, Florida, United States; Monday to Friday, 37-hour work week.

What you will do

• Review insurance applications with an Underwriter against carrier guidelines to determine eligibility.
• Assist agents with application questions and acceptance likelihood.
• Log applications, calculate modal premiums, identify shortages or overages, and prepare CWA input forms.
• Contact agents and applicants to verify unclear information and communicate outstanding requirements.
• Complete non-medical applicant telephone interviews and order or follow up on pre- and post-issue requirements.
• Learn and apply Federal and State Open Enrollment, Guarantee Issue, and Standard application rules.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent and at least one year of experience in insurance, the medical field, or customer service.
• Strong phone handling, active listening, communication, and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to adapt, solve problems, maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and uphold ethical standards.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, manage time effectively, and work independently and collaboratively.
• Reliable transportation, punctuality, availability for scheduled and rotating shifts, and willingness to work overtime as needed.
