Director Technology (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Herndon, Virginia, United States; office or hybrid environment required

Estimated starting salary: $210,124.21–$288,920.79 annually, plus performance-based incentive pay.

What you will do

• Develop and implement technology roadmaps aligned with business strategies and objectives.
• Lead a technology team in delivering new product development goals and commercializing products.
• Work with senior leaders, customers, and business partners to align roadmaps and build collaborations.
• Provide technical support to business development and capture teams pursuing new opportunities.
• Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and performance monitoring across technology initiatives.
• Support solutions spanning command and control, communications, ISR, force protection, security, and multiple operational domains.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least 13 years of experience in technology management or a related field within the aerospace and defense industry; 17 years is required without a degree.
• Advanced knowledge of strategic planning, business development, capture management, science and engineering programs, acquisition processes, technical roadmaps, or exportable technologies.
• Experience with product exportability, technical determinations, and release of products and services.
• Proficiency in big data, ISR, IoT, AI/ML, and cybersecurity principles, with the ability to understand complex technical and program interdependencies.
• Current and active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and U.S. citizenship are required. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher in engineering or a similar field.
• Knowledge of MIL standards, DOD Architecture Framework, CMMC, MOSA, and SOSA standards.
• Hands-on experience with agile and DevOps practices.
• Management, recruiting, staffing, and employee development experience.
• Experience with the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. military, aerospace, defense, intelligence, or adjacent markets.
