Senior Manager, Research Laboratory Operations (Biotech)

Location: Full-time, laboratory-based, on-site role in Durham, North Carolina, United States.

Salary: $136,000–$204,000 annual base pay for US-based candidates, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Oversee daily operations of the Durham research laboratory and maintain a safe, organized, and fully functional environment.
• Manage procurement, maintenance, calibration, repair, decontamination, and utilization of laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, biosafety, hazardous-waste, hygiene, and other applicable safety requirements.
• Manage operational spending, purchase approvals, vendors, contractors, and laboratory service providers.
• Support assay development, screening platforms, biochemical assays, cell culture, mechanism-of-action studies, target validation, and biomarker research.
• Document and communicate protocols, data, analyses, and research findings through project meetings, abstracts, and manuscripts.

Requirements

• MS or PhD, or equivalent practical experience, in Biology, Biochemistry, Oncology, or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience managing a research laboratory in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Hands-on competency in mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques.
• Experience running, troubleshooting, and supporting screening platforms and biochemical assays is highly preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a hands-on approach and experience in matrixed, cross-functional environments.
• Ability to perform routine laboratory work, remain at a biosafety cabinet or laboratory bench for extended periods, use computer systems, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
