Staff Software Engineer, Fullstack – Aurora Services (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in one of hirify.global's offices. Other listed offices are Bozeman, Coppell, Livonia, Louisville, Mountain View, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Salary: $171,000–$273,000 per year, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect and lead strategic initiatives for scalable full-stack web services supporting real-time and offline fleet data flows.
• Design, develop, and deploy modern frontend applications, highly available low-latency backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Provide technical leadership across teams, influence architecture and engineering best practices, and drive complex systems from inception to completion.
• Build operator-facing tools that turn operational data and autonomy metrics into actionable insights.
• Partner with autonomy, cloud infrastructure, and operations leaders to define roadmaps and priorities.
• Mentor senior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of software development experience building and operating large-scale full-stack systems.
• Deep expertise in frontend and backend development, scalable web services, distributed systems, and API design.
• Experience driving technical strategy, influencing architectural decisions, and mentoring senior engineers.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, including AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and monitoring or alerting systems.

Nice to have

• Experience defining technical roadmaps and leading projects across multiple engineering teams.
• Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or real-time distributed fleet systems.
• Knowledge of data modeling, data pipelines, and third-party data integration.
