Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas or Mountain View, California; requires reporting to a specific location at least 3 times per week. Travel required up to 25%. Relocation benefits may be available.

Annual salary: $207,000–$662,400, plus potential incentive pay.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture and delivery of scalable software capabilities used across multiple manufacturing plants.
• Design, build, test, deploy, and operate services across Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, Java, Spring Boot, and cloud platforms.
• Develop event-driven workflows, APIs, messaging patterns, data models, and integrations with manufacturing and enterprise systems.
• Improve platform security, observability, performance, automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and operational readiness.
• Contribute to plant-edge, computer-vision, machine-learning, and edge-to-cloud solutions connecting cameras, infrastructure, cloud services, and operator workflows.
• Set technical direction, facilitate architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and align stakeholders across teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems.
• Strong experience with distributed applications, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, Python, FastAPI, React, and TypeScript.
• Experience with Java and Spring Boot, databases such as PostgreSQL, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with application security, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, production releases, and enterprise or industrial integrations.

Nice to have

• Experience with manufacturing, industrial automation, automotive, robotics, computer vision, plant-edge computing, industrial cameras, or edge-to-cloud architectures.
• Experience with Azure Event Hubs, managed databases, object storage, Key Vault, managed identity, Redis, Helm, GitOps, or Argo CD.
• Experience applying AI-assisted software engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, intelligent automation, or agentic systems.
• Experience fine-tuning machine-learning models and productionizing reliable inference with evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Experience evolving shared frontend and backend capabilities across multiple teams.
