Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Healthcare AI)

Location: Based out of the headquarters in the Greater Seattle area; hybrid. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

Salary: $175,000–$200,000 annual base pay.

What you will do

• Design and build adaptive agentic AI systems, including multi-agent workflows with reasoning, planning, and memory.
• Develop and fine-tune large language and multimodal models for healthcare applications.
• Build retrieval-augmented generation and semantic-search pipelines using embeddings and vector databases.
• Optimize model efficiency, interpretability, inference performance, and production reliability.
• Translate experimental AI concepts into modular, maintainable systems within large-scale platforms.
• Partner with platform, application, and product engineers while setting technical direction and mentoring peers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and deploying scalable, production-ready ML systems.
• Experience with agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, or CrewAI, plus interoperability protocols such as MCP and A2A.
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning and optimizing LLMs or multimodal models with LoRA, PEFT, or TRL.
• Experience with embeddings, vector databases, and RAG or semantic-search pipelines using tools such as FAISS, Pinecone, Chroma, or Azure AI Search.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, Python proficiency, and experience designing scalable systems in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.

Nice to have

• Experience designing reward functions, evaluators, or grader models for reinforcement fine-tuning and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of ML validation metrics including Precision, Recall, Specificity, and NPV.
• Experience applying ethical AI principles to healthcare systems.
