Overnight Supervisor, Microbiology

Location: Melrose Park, Illinois, United States; overnight shift

Salary: $80,000–$100,000 annually, plus an overnight shift differential of $153.85 bi-weekly and a bonus target of 6% of base salary

What you will do

• Supervise and schedule microbiology staff from laboratory technicians through lead scientists across environmental monitoring, finished products, aseptic mentoring, and methods validation.
• Hire, train, coach, delegate work, conduct performance evaluations, and support personnel development.
• Oversee aseptic technique, gowning, media fill, qualification, and training programs for laboratory and production personnel.
• Manage microbiological monitoring and testing of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, environmental systems, and production processes.
• Support tech transfer, I&D validation, filter validation, equipment qualification, and product release activities.
• Investigate out-of-specification results and adverse quality trends, identify root causes and corrective actions, update SOPs, and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences.
• At least five years of progressive laboratory responsibility supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing or equivalent industrial or clinical experience.
• Knowledge of quality control testing methods, validation techniques, and microbiology concepts.
• Ability to scientifically interpret data and apply analytical skills to pharmaceutical applications.
• Strong verbal, written, planning, and organizational skills.
• Effective spoken and written English is required for understanding policies, procedures, training materials, and workplace communications.
