TL;DR
Principal Scientist PBPK and Mechanistic Modeling (Pharmacokinetics): Developing and applying translational PBPK and mechanistic PK/PD modeling strategies for candidate drugs and dosing regimens with an accent on integrating in vitro, in vivo, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, efficacy, and safety data. Focus on verifying model predictions with clinical datasets, guiding multidisciplinary decision-making, and authoring scientific reports and publications.

Location: Beerse, Antwerp, Belgium; full-time on-site work with 3 working days on site required

Base pay: €79,800–€137,770 annually, plus an annual bonus or sales commissions depending on the role and location.

What you will do

  • Develop and apply translational PBPK and mechanistic PK/PD modeling strategies for candidate drugs and dosing regimens.
  • Integrate in vitro, in vivo, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, efficacy, and safety data across emerging therapeutic modalities.
  • Verify model predictions using clinical PK, PD, efficacy, and safety datasets.
  • Collaborate with clinical pharmacology, pharmacometrics, in vitro, and in vivo experts.
  • Author scientific reports, internal and external presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.

Requirements

  • PhD in pharmacokinetics, pharmacometrics, biomedical engineering, systems pharmacology, or a related life science field; alternatively, a related background with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong expertise in PBPK or mechanistic PK/PD modeling and hands-on translational modeling experience.
  • Experience with Simcyp, SimCYP Designer, or related tools, including Monolix, NONMEM, SimBiology, MATLAB, or R.
  • Understanding of experimental systems and in vivo pharmacokinetic studies relevant to model-informed data generation.
  • Strong scientific, written, and oral communication skills in English, independence, organization, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to work full-time on site, including 3 working days on site.

Nice to have

  • Experience guiding experimental design for fit-for-purpose mechanistic model development.
  • Strong mathematical problem-solving, critical data analysis, and large-dataset and literature interpretation skills.
