Engineer I, Process Development, Pilot Scale Operations (mRNA)

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States; 70/30 work model with significant in-office collaboration.

Salary: $63,200–$100,900 per year, with potential bonus, incentive compensation, or equity award.

What you will do

• Receive technology transfers from process development teams focused on nucleic acid development, enzyme reactions, and scale-up.
• Support process development and scale-up strategy, including process control implementation.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot custom equipment used for formulation batches.
• Characterize product attributes in collaboration with analytical and technical teams.
• Implement laboratory best practices and write or update production SOPs.
• Follow safety procedures and documented waste-handling processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Systems, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field; a master’s degree is also accepted.
• 0–2 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated experience in bioprocess development, technical problem-solving, and technology transfer.
• Ability to work with solution preparation, RNA processing, sterile fill/finish, tangential flow filtration, or related unit operations.
• Strong written and oral communication, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with fermentation, enzymatic reactions, chromatography, or tangential flow filtration.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting equipment and authoring equipment-specific SOPs.
