What you will do

• Translate customer technology transfer packages into executable pilot-scale production processes, batch records, recipes, operating procedures, and training materials.
• Act as the primary technical interface between customers and facility operations during technology transfer, campaign preparation, production, and post-campaign closure.
• Support bench-scale fermentation and downstream trials to validate processes and identify gaps before pilot-scale execution.
• Train operations personnel on process unit operations, equipment safeguards, alarms, programming sequences, and troubleshooting.
• Analyze plant and in-process data to create operational dashboards, metrics, process reports, and client data packages.
• Support equipment troubleshooting, corrective actions, commissioning, critical campaigns, and continuous improvement while promoting a zero-harm safety culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience as a process engineer in fermentation, bioprocess development, or bioprocess manufacturing.
• Experience with technology transfer, scale-up, process development, or production support at commercial or CDMO scale.
• Strong knowledge of fermentation fundamentals, downstream separation technologies, process monitoring, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to operations, laboratory, maintenance personnel, and customers, and to lead client interactions.
• Ability to work onsite in Hayward, California; employment may depend on applicable U.S. export-control authorization.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline and 8 or more years of relevant experience.
• Experience with centrifuges, ultrafiltration, microfiltration, ion exchange, evaporators, spray dryers, or homogenizers.
• CDMO experience, food-safe quality standards, and bench-to-pilot or pilot-to-commercial scale-up experience.
• Experience writing fermentation scripts and recipes, or working with FactoryTalk and Ignition automation environments.
