Lead Relay Test Technician

Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania; traveling field position across the Northeast Region of the United States, with 100% field work.

Salary: USD $65.00–$90.00 per hour, plus potential participation in an annual discretionary bonus program.

What you will do

• Install, test, inspect, calibrate, and repair system protection devices, transducers, protective controls, switchboards, and other substation equipment.
• Work with microprocessor-based and electronic relays on electric transmission and distribution systems.
• Use relay test sets to verify protective device settings and support commissioning activities.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, manufacturer specifications, schematic diagrams, and relay protection schemes.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and identify and resolve problems using sound judgment.
• Perform traveling field work involving climbing, crouching, work in trenches or manholes, and lifting or pulling heavy cables and equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of system protection experience involving installation and maintenance of electromechanical and electronic relays and control equipment used by electric utilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Basic knowledge of alternating-current and direct-current theory and relay protection schemes.
• Ability to read construction and manufacturer drawings, specifications, and schematic diagrams.
• Ability to operate computers and relevant software, with strong attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver's license issued by the state of residence and a good driving record.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of field work, including lifting up to 100 pounds and working at ground level, in trenches, or in manholes.

Nice to have

• Associate's degree in industrial electrical, instrumentation and control, or electronics.
• Familiarity with Doble, SEL AcSELerator, and ENOSERVE RTS.
• Goose Messaging experience.
