Associate Test Engineer (Optics)

Location: Niwot, Colorado, United States; 100% in-office. Relocation is not offered.

Salary: $75,000–$90,000 per year, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Execute test plans for new product development and sustaining-engineering projects under senior engineer guidance.
• Perform functional, environmental, calibration, and reliability testing on prototype and production units.
• Operate laboratory and electro-optical equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, laser power meters, beam profilers, spectrophotometers, and flow and pressure sensors.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, optical, and laser subsystems and support root-cause investigations.
• Document test results, deviations, and data analysis in technical reports.
• Maintain test equipment, fixtures, and calibration records while collaborating with engineering, technician, and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 0–2 years of experience or recent graduation.
• Familiarity with laboratory test and measurement equipment.
• Strong technical problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in the Niwot office and laboratory full time.

Nice to have

• Basic understanding of optics, electro-optics, or laser systems.
• Hands-on laboratory, coursework, or internship experience with test and measurement equipment.
• Solid modeling or CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks.
• Exposure to gas or liquid handling systems and safe laser operation.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
