TL;DR
Conflict Analyst (Legal): Researching and analyzing conflicts searches across firm databases and external sources with an accent on legal conflicts, ethical rules, corporate structures, and accurate reporting. Focus on identifying and escalating potential conflicts, communicating findings to attorneys and partners, and improving conflict-processing procedures and systems.

Location: Based in any U.S. office — Century City, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Orange County, Palo Alto, or San Francisco.

Annual compensation: $80,000–$85,000, depending on qualifications and operational considerations.

What you will do

  • Review intake requests and conduct conflicts searches using firm databases, proprietary systems, and external research sources.
  • Research corporate structures, company information, and management profiles.
  • Analyze conflicts results, identify potential issues, and communicate critical findings to partners, attorneys, and relevant firm personnel.
  • Verify the completeness, consistency, accuracy, and policy compliance of conflicts reports.
  • Escalate unresolved conflicts and assist with clearing potential conflicts according to firm policies.
  • Support department training, process improvements, technology improvements, and timely processing of conflict requests.

Requirements

  • Understanding of legal conflicts and related ethical rules.
  • Three to four years of experience as a Conflict Analyst in a large firm is preferred, with relevant paralegal or legal assistant studies helpful.
  • University degree.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, decision-making, research, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and legal staff, handle confidential information, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based systems is preferred; familiarity with CMS/Aderant, Dun & Bradstreet, and Hoovers is a plus.
