Commercial Construction Project Engineer

Location: Falls Church, Virginia, United States; fully onsite for the 12-month training program

Salary: $77,000–$82,000 per year, with compensation varying by city and state.

What you will do

• Complete a structured, one-year HITT Futures training program with mentorship, hands-on learning, and performance reviews every four months.
• Work onsite on assigned commercial construction projects and shadow experienced superintendents and project leaders.
• Set up and maintain jobsite records, including construction documents, daily reports, submittal logs, RFI logs, and subcontractor correspondence.
• Support inspections, quality control, schedules, material take-offs, supplier orders, deliveries, and survey and layout activities.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, clients, vendors, project managers, and superintendents on construction and logistical tasks.
• Support safety programs through weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required safety reports.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Military experience or a four-year degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or business strongly preferred.
• Previous experience on commercial job sites strongly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, integrity, adaptability, initiative, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to learn Microsoft Office 365, Procore, Adobe Suite, Bluebeam, and JD Edwards software.
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
