What you will do

• Support mechanical design across feasibility, programming, conceptual and schematic design, construction documents, commissioning, and project close-out.
• Coordinate workload, project deliverables, and design activities with mechanical and multidisciplinary teams.
• Design and document HVAC and plumbing systems, including ductwork, piping, air and water flow diagrams, control diagrams, point lists, and sequences of operation.
• Perform fan and pump curve analysis, psychrometric calculations, load calculations, and equipment selection.
• Review documents for interdisciplinary conflicts and verify existing conditions through field work.
• Support construction administration by reviewing submittals, answering RFIs, monitoring site progress, and preparing field observation reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for commercial or institutional buildings.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location, such as a PE or P.Eng.
• Experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
• Ability to participate actively in an employee-owned, collaborative culture.
• Local candidates in Boston are preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with complex, large-scale healthcare, laboratory, or mission-critical data center facilities.
• Experience with MS Office, IES VE or similar HVAC load and performance software, Revit, and BIM modeling software.
• Experience with energy modeling, load calculation, and manufacturer equipment selection software.
