Location: South San Francisco, California, United States; onsite Tuesday–Thursday. Remote applicants are considered but must attend the South San Francisco headquarters one week each month.
Salary: $300,000–$358,000 USD annually, plus stock options and an annual bonus program.

What you will do
- Lead clinical development activities in rheumatology and autoimmune diseases from discovery research through first-in-human, proof-of-concept, and Phase 3 studies.
- Serve as physician lead for LUMUS, a 388-patient Phase 2b trial evaluating ESK-001 in adults with moderately to severely active, autoantibody-positive systemic lupus erythematosus.
- Lead in-stream data reviews and reconciliation efforts, including cross-referencing primary efficacy endpoints.
- Author clinical sections of protocol amendments, regulatory submissions, and other key study documents.
- Oversee the LUMUS medical monitor and participate in external scientific engagement with physicians.
- Coach and support team members while representing across rheumatology initiatives.
Requirements
- MD or ex-US equivalent with board certification in Rheumatology.
- 5+ years of clinical development experience.
- Proven people-management and leadership experience in a pharmaceutical, clinical, or academic environment.
- Strong strategic, organizational, executional, communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet timelines, and collaborate across matrixed cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel to the South San Francisco headquarters for one week every month; onsite employees are expected Tuesday–Thursday.
