DLP Senior Analyst - Purview (Microsoft Purview)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; hybrid work arrangement

Salary: $98,300–$135,250 annual base salary for positions located in Illinois, plus bonus eligibility and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Design, configure, and maintain Microsoft Purview solutions for data classification, labeling, retention, and compliance.
• Implement Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention, Insider Risk Management, Records Management, and eDiscovery controls and workflows.
• Protect sensitive data through encryption, access governance, monitoring, and lifecycle management across Microsoft 365, Azure, and integrated environments.
• Integrate Purview alerts and insights with Security Operations, incident response, and GRC processes.
• Investigate data leakage, insider risk, compliance alerts, and policy violations, recommending containment and remediation.
• Collaborate with IT, Security, Legal, Compliance, Records Management, Applications, and Data and AI teams on policies, documentation, audits, and risk assessments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Governance, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in security engineering, compliance engineering, or data governance, focused on Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Purview.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview Information Protection, DLP, Insider Risk Management, Records Management, and eDiscovery.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 security and compliance tools, data governance, information lifecycle management, and regulatory frameworks including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and ISO 27001.
• Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and remediate data protection and compliance issues in Microsoft 365 environments.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and preserve confidentiality.

Nice to have

• Microsoft security and compliance certifications, including Information Protection Administrator, Security Operations Analyst, or Azure Security Engineer Associate.
• CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or Security+ certification.
• Experience in legal, financial services, or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience with Varonis, Digital Guardian, Cyberhaven, SIEM/SOAR platforms, legal hold, records management, and eDiscovery at global organizations.
• Ability to script or automate routine processes and tasks.
