Behavioral Health Medical Director (Psychiatry)

Location: Remote-CA; California or Oregon medical license required, with a preference for residence in the Pacific Time Zone.

Salary: $236,500–$449,300 per year

What you will do

• Assist the Chief Medical Director in directing medical management, utilization management, credentialing, and quality improvement functions.
• Lead medical review activities for utilization review, quality assurance, complex cases, experimental services, claims, and medical necessity appeals.
• Plan and implement initiatives that improve provider performance, care quality, utilization, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct rounds for high-risk patients and coordinate care with clinical and care management teams.
• Collaborate with providers, clinical teams, appeals staff, medical and pharmacy consultants, and physician committees.
• Support provider network development, market expansion, physician education, and representation on state or ad hoc committees.

Requirements

• Board certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is required for behavioral health.
• Current, unrestricted medical license in California or Oregon is required.
• Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree.
• Active medical practice and current state licensure without restrictions, limitations, or government-program sanctions.
• Utilization management experience and knowledge of quality accreditation standards are preferred.
• Experience treating or managing care for culturally diverse populations is preferred.
