Senior Manager/ Associate Director, Contracts Management (Biotech)

Location: San Carlos, California, United States; based on site.

Salary: $147,000–$187,000 per year

What you will do

• Manage the full lifecycle of non-clinical vendor and R&D contracts, including drafting, review, negotiation, execution, and amendments.
• Handle non-disclosure, material transfer, in-license, service, research collaboration, consulting, and supplier agreements.
• Serve as the subject-matter expert for contract matters, aligning agreements with company policies, objectives, and risk tolerance.
• Implement and administer contract lifecycle management software, including platform selection, workflow design, templates, reporting, and optimization.
• Improve contracting processes, reduce turnaround times, mitigate risk, and support scalable operations.
• Partner with Legal, Finance, R&D, and Business Development while tracking contract metrics and supporting audit readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree or JD is preferred.
• 7–10+ years of contract management experience with increasing responsibility.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in biotech/pharma or at a law firm primarily supporting life sciences clients.
• Deep expertise in intellectual property and confidentiality provisions in life sciences contracts.
• Strong knowledge of contract law, compliance, and pharma/biotech regulations.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, collaboration, data analysis, and process improvement skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with contract lifecycle management platforms, including configuration, optimization, and reporting.
• Experience implementing systems, rolling out large-scale processes, or standardizing contract templates.
• NCMA, IACCM, CPCM, or similar certification.
• Exposure to equity, financing, or M&A-related life sciences contracts.
