Tax Manager (Public Accounting)

Location: Greater Sacramento, California, United States; full-time, on-site

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 annually

What you will do

• Review complex federal and multi-state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, and trusts.
• Review tax projections and provide proactive tax planning recommendations.
• Review sales tax returns, payroll tax filings, business property tax statements, and business license renewals.
• Plan, supervise, and review compiled and reviewed financial statement engagements.
• Research federal and state tax legislation, represent clients during tax audits, and provide practical tax guidance.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff while managing multiple engagements and deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Six years of public accounting tax experience.
• Strong experience reviewing complex federal and multi-state tax returns.
• Extensive knowledge of individual, partnership, corporate, estate and trust, and multi-state taxation.
• Experience with tax planning, projections, research, audit representation, and financial statement engagements.
• Strong analytical, communication, client relationship management, and staff supervision skills.

Nice to have

• Active CPA license.
• Experience with public accounting tax software.
• Strong client relationship management experience.
