TL;DR
Senior Process Engineer (Medical Devices): Improving manufacturing operations across multiple facilities through lean methodologies, process optimization, equipment integration, and data-driven initiatives with an accent on operational efficiency, cost reduction, and continuous improvement. Focus on leading A3, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping projects, coaching plant teams, supporting regulated production, and sustaining measurable performance gains.

Location: Wheeling, Illinois, United States; less than 10% travel required

Base salary: $120,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

  • Analyze manufacturing processes through time studies, capacity analysis, and workflow evaluations to improve labor and equipment utilization.
  • Lead lean improvement initiatives using A3 problem-solving, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Coach plant teams on continuous improvement, operational excellence, and change management practices.
  • Evaluate and implement equipment and manufacturing technologies while monitoring installations, timelines, and budgets.
  • Conduct root cause investigations, corrective action planning, and data analysis to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Develop SOPs, work standards, visual management systems, audit documentation, and sustainability improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution in Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or process improvement.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, CAD, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, and QAD.
  • Ability to collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance, robotics/automation, and corporate leadership.
  • Ability to support compliance, audits, performance tracking, and quantified cost-saving initiatives.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, operations management, or a related field.
  • Experience in medical device, life sciences, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Lean or Continuous Improvement certification, such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide or multi-site initiatives and supporting automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Knowledge of FDA, ISO 13485, and GMP requirements, or change management/project management certification.
