Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Alameda, California, United States. Hybrid workplace with a willingness and ability to work on site; business travel may range from 0% to 25%.

Annual base salary: $119,000–$166,000.

What you will do

• Lead supplier development, qualification, capability assessment, stabilization, and monitoring activities.
• Drive supplier improvement roadmaps, Kaizen events, process optimization, variation reduction, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Assess supplier capacity, scalability, manufacturing readiness, process capability, and operational risks affecting supply continuity.
• Support procurement strategies, supplier diversification, second-source qualifications, supplier transfers, and make-versus-buy analyses.
• Lead complex supplier root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor Supplier Quality Engineers and cross-functional colleagues.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in Supplier Engineering, Supplier Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, Operations Engineering, or a related technical function.
• Experience leading supplier development, process improvement, value-add, or capability development initiatives.
• Experience working directly with suppliers to resolve technical, quality, or manufacturing challenges.
• Experience partnering with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality organizations.
• Strong technical problem-solving, project leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Medical device or other regulated manufacturing experience.
• Lean or Six Sigma training, statistical methods, process validation, risk management, and root-cause analysis knowledge.
• Experience with supplier diversification, second-source programs, supplier transfers, Kaizens, and continuous improvement.
• Experience with global suppliers and complex supply chains.
• ASQ CQE or CQA certification.
