Data Engineering Manager, Data BP – USDS (Big Data)

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person up to 5 days per week

Salary: $208,800–$438,000 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Lead and manage a team of data engineers, promoting technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee project delivery and cross-functional collaboration across multiple initiatives.
• Design, build, maintain, and scale batch and real-time data platforms, pipelines, and services.
• Define architecture standards covering data modeling, pipeline design, and data quality frameworks.
• Own data solutions from design through development, testing, deployment, and optimization.
• Partner with Product, Analytics, Data Science, and Engineering teams while ensuring data governance, privacy, and security compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience building and scaling enterprise-grade data platforms in large-scale distributed systems.
• 3+ years of engineering leadership or engineering management experience overseeing technical teams.
• Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Druid, ClickHouse, or comparable big data and distributed storage technologies.
• Strong understanding of data lakes, data warehouses, lakehouse architectures, SQL, and Python or an equivalent language.
• Ability to work fully in person in San Jose up to 5 days per week.
