Lead User Experience (UX) Designer - Digital Assets (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, with a hybrid work model. Candidates must independently possess eligibility to work in the United States for any employer. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

Base pay in San Francisco: $157,000–$192,000 USD per year, plus a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead UX direction for Zelle®’s cross-border payments initiative, from research and concept exploration through interaction design and published UX standards.
• Translate cross-border payment rails, currency conversion, stablecoin infrastructure, and compliance flows into simple, trustworthy experiences.
• Develop UX guidelines and frameworks for consistent implementation by partner financial institutions across the network.
• Commission, participate in, and synthesize user research and usability testing.
• Identify design risks, edge cases, and systemic issues, and drive resolution across product, engineering, strategy, compliance, and partner institutions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of UX or product design experience with a portfolio demonstrating leadership-level craft and strategic thinking across complex products.
• Deep expertise in payments or fintech, including fluency in payment systems, cross-border mechanics, intermediaries, and compliance constraints.
• Experience designing for platform or network business models where influence extends across partner-controlled end-user surfaces.
• Strong visual design skills and proficiency with Figma and prototyping tools.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication with non-design audiences.
• Experience authoring UX guidelines or design standards for external or partner use. An online portfolio with wireframes and end-to-end UX case studies is required.

Nice to have

• Experience at a payments network, money transfer operator, or global digital wallet.
• Exposure to stablecoin or blockchain-based payment infrastructure and its UX implications.
• Experience with remittance, cross-border money movement, and compliance UX patterns such as KYC/AML, sanctions screening, and disclosures.
• Prior design leadership through designer guidance, critiques, or workstream direction.
• Webflow or front-end familiarity, including HTML and CSS.
