Experienced WC Med Only Adjuster (Workers' Compensation)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina; hybrid schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.

Salary: $55,000–$68,000 per year.

What you will do

• Investigate complex medical-only workers' compensation claims through communication with insureds, claimants, employers, and medical providers.
• Determine coverage, compensability, medical causality, relatedness, subrogation potential, and the appropriate course of action.
• Set and adjust reserves for claims with exposure generally below $30,000, process payments, and resolve claims.
• Manage claims involving medical treatment, diagnostics, minor procedures, comorbidities, disputed facts, and benefit petitions.
• Document claim files, maintain diaries, submit required state forms, and keep electronic data accurate.
• Ensure compliance with company, state, and federal regulations, including state and Medicare data requirements.

Requirements

• Knowledge of workers' compensation statutes, coverage, and case law.
• Working knowledge of medical treatment, terminology, injury mechanisms, and medical-only workers' compensation claims.
• Critical-thinking skills for assessing claim compensability under applicable facts and law.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 1–3 years of claims experience preferred.
• College degree preferred.
