Assistant General Counsel, HR Risk & Compliance

Location: Richmond, Virginia, United States; hybrid work arrangement. US work authorization is required. Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Salary: $152,600–$318,000 annual base salary, with potential eligibility for the annual incentive plan.

What you will do

• Advise HR and business leaders on employment-related and immigration law matters across hirify.global’s insurance businesses.
• Lead the US-facing employee relations function and manage a Senior Employee Relations Manager.
• Conduct complex and sensitive employee relations investigations and advise managers on issue resolution.
• Support business restructuring projects in and outside the United States.
• Advise on employment policies, equal employment opportunity matters, mediation, arbitration, and government agency inquiries.
• Lead HR risk management activities, assess the HR control environment, update risk-mitigation policies, and oversee headquarters physical security.

Requirements

• JD required; a bachelor’s or master’s degree in HR or a related field is preferred.
• Active membership in good standing of the Bar of Virginia, Texas, New York, or Illinois.
• 10+ years of broad US employment law experience, including labor law, executive compensation, employee benefits, taxation, compensation agreements, and privacy legislation.
• Broad knowledge of HR compliance and multiple HR disciplines, including recruiting, training and development, employee relations, HR business partnering, compensation and benefits, and payroll.
• Experience advising business leaders with pragmatic recommendations and balancing independent legal requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with leaders, employees, regulators, and auditors.
