Scientific Director (Oncology)

Location: United States; remote

Salary: $130,000–$140,000 per year, depending on qualifications; eligible for an annual bonus program or commission incentive.

What you will do

• Own the scientific vision for a portfolio of oncology education programs across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Translate clinical literature, treatment guidelines, and disease-state data into accurate content for digital, sponsored video, and live or virtual meeting deliverables.
• Lead materials through pharmaceutical promotional review processes and revise content throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor Medical Writers and Editors on scientific writing, prioritization, and quality standards.
• Attend conferences and advisory boards approximately 3–5 days per quarter, synthesize clinical insights, and turn them into client deliverables.
• Support business development, client relationship management, project planning, and cross-functional collaboration with project management, editorial, and design teams.

Requirements

• Clinical degree such as PharmD, MD, or DO, or an advanced MS, PhD, or equivalent degree in health sciences or life sciences.
• At least 3 years of experience in medical communications or an agency setting; 5+ years preferred for independent client and staff leadership.
• Demonstrated oncology expertise and the ability to engage credibly with key opinion leaders and pharmaceutical clients.
• Management or mentorship experience, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously.

Nice to have

• Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) designation.
