Portfolio Accountant

Location: Chicago, IL; work in the Chicago office

What you will do

• Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, footnotes, and investor reporting packages.
• Calculate performance returns, cash flow distributions, and property and debt valuations.
• Analyze property operating statements, budgets, valuation assumptions, and annual business plans.
• Administer and report using NCREIF and Yardi data and maintain client-specific reporting templates.
• Respond to basic auditor queries and prepare schedules required by investment management, joint venture, and property management agreements.
• Complete special projects such as due diligence reviews, leasehold analyses, and consultant or client questionnaires.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and work effectively with ambiguity.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with professionals at all levels.

Nice to have

• CPA certification or an intention to obtain a CPA.
