Senior Electrical Engineer (Nuclear Microreactors)

Location: Los Angeles, United States. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations under export regulations.

Salary: $150,000–$185,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design electrical systems for reactor instrumentation, control, and power distribution from concept through detailed implementation.
• Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and interface definitions for sensors, control hardware, and electrical subsystems.
• Review schematics, wiring, harnesses, and control panel designs, and participate in technical design reviews.
• Support hazard analyses by identifying electrical and instrumentation failure modes and mitigations.
• Perform bench, HIL/HITL, and integration testing, including hardware troubleshooting and development support.
• Collaborate with systems, mechanical, software, licensing, and test teams to meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience designing, developing, integrating, or testing electrical systems and hardware.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of DC and AC circuits, impedance, and transient behavior.
• Ability to create, read, and review electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with electrical design, simulation, or PCB layout tools and laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators.
• Ability to reason about failure modes and safe states in electrical or control systems, communicate clearly, and work through ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated or safety-critical environments such as nuclear, aerospace, defense, maritime, or industrial engineering.
• Knowledge of fail-safe design, redundancy, voting logic, diversity, IEEE or IEC standards, DOE nuclear standards, or GDE-987 qualification processes.
• Experience with hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, automated test frameworks, data acquisition platforms, design reviews, or hazard analyses.
