Moderation Strategy Operation Lead (AI)

Location: Los Angeles, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $139,650–$256,500 annually, with potential additional bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Lead the daily human moderation engine and oversee the moderation strategy operations team.
• Improve moderation quality, efficiency, model accuracy, and operating costs.
• Apply LLMs and other models to content classification, risk detection, routine audits, and complex moderation decisions.
• Combine domain expertise with model capabilities to improve moderation performance.
• Use data-driven analysis to identify model misses and improve moderation strategies.
• Coordinate internal policy and product stakeholders with external vendor partners.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Moderation, Trust & Safety, or Risk Operations, including at least 3 years leading teams in a high-growth technology environment.
• Experience managing mid-to-large-scale operational or technical teams through organizational change.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and LLM applications in content classification and risk detection.
• Proficiency in SQL, data-driven decision-making, and root cause analysis of model misses.
• Ability to translate complex AI strategies into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders and USDS leadership.
• Ability to work fully in person in Los Angeles, up to 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience in highly regulated environments such as government, finance, or highly audited technology sectors.
• Knowledge of US e-commerce marketplaces, seller fraud, and consumer protection.
• Experience implementing automated workflows or LLM agents.
• Experience building operational mechanisms from scratch in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
