TL;DR
Senior Medical Science Liaison (Rare Diseases) (Medical Affairs/Rare Diseases): Executing national medical strategies and regional medical business plans for FUS ALS, PKU, and other rare disease programs with an accent on scientific stakeholder engagement, Centers of Excellence, and patient-focused medical strategy. Focus on building relationships with KOLs and specialized care teams, supporting clinical trials and launch readiness, synthesizing medical insights, and addressing complex rare disease care pathways across the United States.

Location: Remote within the United States; broad geographic coverage across the country. Ability to travel up to 70% by air or car is required, and residence in a major metropolitan area or airport hub within the assigned region is preferred.

Salary: $169,222–$253,000, plus incentive opportunity.

What you will do

  • Execute national medical strategies and develop regional medical business plans for assigned rare disease accounts and stakeholder groups.
  • Build and maintain scientific relationships with KOLs, investigators, healthcare providers, advocacy organizations, and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Provide evidence-based scientific and clinical expertise on FUS ALS, PKU, and other rare disease programs across pre-launch, launch, and post-launch phases.
  • Develop account and landscape insights involving Centers of Excellence, referral pathways, diagnostic patterns, treatment readiness, and unmet needs.
  • Support clinical trials, investigator-sponsored research, medical collaborations, speaker education, and field-based study execution activities.
  • Share high-quality medical insights and collaborate with Rare Diseases Medical Affairs, Global Medical Strategy, Advocacy, and Commercial partners within compliance boundaries.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, PharmD, or PhD in life sciences.
  • At least 5 years of relevant pharmaceutical industry Medical Affairs experience, including prior MSL or comparable Medical Affairs experience.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare systems, Centers of Excellence, patient care delivery, and engagement with healthcare professionals and decision-makers.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, conflict resolution, strategic thinking, and scientific communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements governing Medical Affairs.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% by air or car and work across a broad United States region.

Nice to have

  • Rare disease experience.
  • Experience in neurology, neuromuscular disease, ALS, metabolic disorders, PKU, or inherited metabolic disease.
  • Experience with specialized referral centers, treatment centers, investigators, or patient advocacy organizations.
