Manager, Accounts Receivable

Location: Washington, DC; in-office 4 days per week

Base salary: $125,000–$135,000 annually, plus potential annual discretionary incentive and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Plan, delegate, monitor, and manage team deliverables, including mentoring senior accountants and supporting training.
• Oversee billing, cash application, refunds, collections, reserves, write-offs, and DSO and working capital performance.
• Manage monthly closing activities, reconciliations, journal entries, reclasses, adjustments, and required documentation.
• Review and approve working capital, cash requirements, billing exception, and accounts receivable aging reports.
• Ensure compliance with firm policies, SOX controls, partnership and service agreements, and applicable contractual requirements.
• Coordinate audit requests and walkthroughs, ad hoc reporting, process improvements, system enhancements, and cross-functional issue resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 4 years of accounting experience with solid knowledge of GAAP relevant to billing and accounts receivable.
• Experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback to others.
• Ability to interpret service, partnership, and other complex agreements and determine appropriate transaction treatment.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, functional Microsoft Word and Outlook knowledge, and solid accounting information systems skills.
• Ability to solve complex issues, communicate across departments, work under pressure, and meet reporting deadlines.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of the private equity industry.
• Experience with global operations.
• PeopleSoft experience, particularly in the project costing module.
