Senior Automation Engineer (OT Infrastructure & Integration)

Location: Wilson, North Carolina, United States; full-time on-site support required. The facility design phase includes frequent international travel of more than 25% until the project shifts to the Wilson plant site.

What you will do

• Lead the strategy, execution, and lifecycle management of manufacturing OT infrastructure and integrated automation systems.
• Define industrial network architecture, virtualized server platforms, historian infrastructure, system interfaces, cybersecurity controls, and support models.
• Lead end-to-end delivery from concept, design, procurement, and configuration through FAT, integration testing, commissioning, qualification, start-up, handover, and support.
• Integrate OT infrastructure with DCS/PAS, PLC, SCADA/HMI, MES, BAS, historian, and other Level 1–3 manufacturing systems.
• Direct engineers, contractors, suppliers, OEMs, system integrators, Digital/IT partners, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, risks, compliance activities, lifecycle health, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Science, or a related technical field.
• At least 6 years of progressive experience owning manufacturing OT infrastructure, industrial automation infrastructure, architecture, integration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support.
• Experience leading OT infrastructure or manufacturing integration initiatives in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of industrial networking, network segmentation, VLANs, virtualized servers, communication paths, cybersecurity controls, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
• Experience with historian infrastructure such as OSI PI, integration with DCS/PAS, MES, BAS, PLC systems, and data platforms, plus hands-on OT network design and switch configuration.
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally to suppliers, system integrators, and affiliate sites; occasional short-term stays may be required.

Nice to have

• Cisco networking, Emerson DeltaV, Werum PAS-X, PLC, BAS, historian, Active Directory, domain controller, backup, and disaster recovery experience.
• Experience with greenfield or brownfield facility start-up, commissioning, operational readiness, and highly automated sterile or drug-product manufacturing.
• Experience applying global engineering, cybersecurity, and governance standards across multiple sites or affiliates.
